Terherne, known as the "Kameleondorp" (Chameleon Village), is an island in the Sneekermeer lake. On one side, you'll find the lake, and on the other, the Terhernster pools.

The Grienedyk cycle path, located along the Sneekermeer, offers cyclists a scenic route with panoramic views over the water and surrounding nature reserves. This path is part of several cycle routes around the Sneekermeer and is well maintained, which ensures a comfortable ride. Along the dike there are bird watching points, bat and sand martin caves, and information boards that tell more about the rich flora and fauna of the area.

Just outside Sneek, in the Sneekermeer, lies Kolmeersland or Starteiland, which is best known for the sailing regattas during the Sneekweek and the skûtsjesilen. Around the island you can moor in one of the marinas and Starteiland has various facilities such as a restaurant and a playground. Starteiland can only be reached by ferry or private boat transport, making it a unique place in the heart of Friesland.

From above you have a gigantic view of the Sneekermeer.

The view is very beautiful! However, it's also a bit of a test of courage, as you can look down through the gratings and the tower sways.

Here you can take the ferry to the island of Kolmeersland, where there is also a restaurant/camping/port. Or just sit at the Pr.Margrietkanaal and watch the hustle and bustle, there is a lot of boat traffic there.
