As you enter the port of Joure by boat, the Groene Molen (Green Mill) windmill greets you at the harbor entrance. A magnificent sight 👀🤗👍🏼

The church is named after Hobbe van Baerdt, the grietman (mayor) of Haskerland (1615-1650). The triangular ornament (the pediment) above the entrance gate reads "De heer Gritman Hobbe van Baerdt 1644." That same year, on March 18, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the two-aisled church (nave and side aisle). This new building was intended to replace a church from the 16th century. In 1939, the church was destroyed by fire, and due to the Second World War, reconstruction dragged on until 1947.

The shop is lovingly decorated, and in addition to delicious ice cream, they also offer homemade pralines, macarons, and chocolate. A definite must from us 👍🏼

In 1911, the eleventh factory of the South Holland dairy company N.V. Hollandia was built in Scharsterbrug.

The ferry currently costs €1.50 per person. Bicycles are included (free of charge).

In a slightly raised churchyard along the canal in Broek stands a white-painted bell tower with a helmet-shaped roof. The bell was cast in 1600 by Hendrik Wegewaert.

It's worth stopping here for ice cream.
