Sainte-Anne des Rochers 예배당은 2026년 6월 12일 화재로 심하게 손상되었습니다. 슬레이트 지붕의 약 75%가 파괴되었고 지붕 구조의 일부가 붕괴되었습니다. 소방관들은 내부에서 여러 개의 역사적인 조각상과 예배용 물품을 구출할 수 있었습니다. 복원 작업 완료 및 재개장은 2028년에 이루어질 예정입니다.

성벽은 브르타뉴 항구 도시에서 가장 중요한 역사적 건축물 중 하나입니다. 오늘날 남아 있는 요새는 주로 12세기에서 18세기 사이에 건설되었으며 여러 차례 확장되고 강화되었습니다. 약 2km 길이의 성벽은 구시가지("Intra-Muros")를 둘러싸고 있으며 바다, 앞쪽 섬들, 브르타뉴 해안의 인상적인 전망을 제공합니다. 방어벽은 생말로가 요새화된 항구 도시이자 중요한 해양 중심지로서 중요한 역할을 했던 시기를 떠올리게 합니다.

굴 세척 여성들의 분수(Brunnen der Austernwäscherinnen)는 생-뫼느 교회 광장에 있는 청동 조각품입니다. 조각가 장 프레우르(Jean Fréour)가 제작했으며 1999년에 제막되었습니다. 이는 20세기 초에 여전히 손으로 굴을 세척했던 캉칼(Cancale) 여성들을 기리기 위한 것입니다. 현재(2026년 7월 기준) 분수는 작동하지 않지만 여전히 볼 만합니다.

Cancale originated in the 12th and 13th centuries as a small coastal settlement, dominated by fishing and oyster farming, around the port of La Houle. The first fortified harbors and the old Église Saint-Méen were built as early as the 14th century. Today, numerous sights reflect the town's maritime tradition: the Port de la Houle, the fish market for fresh seafood; the Cale de l'Épi, a historic lock with 19 arches; the new Église Saint-Méen in the Neo-Gothic style; and the maritime bell, a symbol of the old harbor tradition.
