Located on the Fives-Baisieux / Lille-Tournai line. Towards Lille, the next station is Villeneuve d'Asq; towards Tournai, it's Froyennes, which is already in Belgium. It opened in 1865.

The town hall of Baisieux is surrounded by a small park, which belongs to the estate of Ogimont, the manor-farm across the street. The name "Basieux" comes from "Baix," meaning lowland, and refers to the marshes that once formed this area. The town has been officially known since the 11th century and was an annex of the Abbey of Cysoing, which built a church there in the 860s. Source: www.mairie-baisieux.fr

This bust of a soldier, designed by sculptor Eugène Benet, is all that remains of what was once a column commemorating those who died in the First World War. A split stone structure bearing a quote from Victor Hugo makes the broken statue a powerful statement of Free Thought: "Expression to the frontiers; thought never ends."

"La ferm-manoir d'Ogimont" is a large farmhouse, the various sections of which are built around a courtyard. It is therefore a self-contained structure, with only one large entrance gate. The farmhouse dates back to 1704. (Although the facade of a barn bears the date 1784, the core is actually 80 years older.) Its central location—between the old village, Petit-Baisieux, and Baisieux-Sin (Grand-Baisieux)—led the municipality to restore and restructure the manor house into a socio-cultural center (the Ogimont Socio-Cultural Center), including a library, a multi-purpose hall (Espace Villeret), and spaces for associations and various meetings. The renovation respected the original architecture, particularly the entrance with its veranda and the layout around the central courtyard, while adapting the spaces to contemporary needs. Today, from this path, you have a limited view of Montreul Castle (at least in winter, when trees and shrubs are practically bare). The 23-room castle is situated in a 10-hectare park. Although its current appearance dates back to the 18th century, the history of the seigneury of Montreul dates back to the 13th century. In the 20th century, the castle was owned by the Neveux family of architects from Roubaix. In 1974, it came into the possession of the Federation of Social Organizations of the Post Office (PTT) of the Nord department. After that—and until the end of 2022—it housed the headquarters of the Departmental Federation of Hunters in the Nord region. The new owners plan to transform the castle into an event and reception venue. Source: Le Voix du Nord

During the winter of 2024-2025, several renovations were carried out: the restrooms, pontoons, walkways, and wooden structures were replaced. New furniture (benches, picnic tables) was also installed.

The park is 12 hectares in size, so much more than the name (6 acres = approx. 6 hectares) suggests.
