The VV221 cycle route is part of the EuroVélo 5 network and begins in Ensisheim at the Thur bridge and ends in Cernay after about 17 km. The route initially runs alongside the road, then past ponds and finally through a wooded area. It runs alongside the Thur and passes the Alsatian Ecomuseum (another route leads to Ungersheim via the Petit Prince Park). The Green Route then winds along the Thur, passing Pulversheim, Staffelfelden, and Wittelsheim, and finally reaches Cernay, still along the Thur.

The chapel 'Our Lady of the Three Ears of Corn' is famous for an apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1491. In 1968, a modern pilgrimage church was built, which in 1991 received a triple tower as a symbol of the "three ears of corn."

Beautiful old town tucked away. The decorative spire twinkling in the sunlight made us detour to take a look. So glad we did! Stunning town with numerous patisseries & cafes and plenty of places to sit in the sunshine & watch the world go by. Highly recommended 👌

Housed in the former Château de Thurnburg, the Hôtel de Ville de Wintzenheim is a historic building dating back to the 16th century and has served as the town hall since 1853. Originally owned by the Knights Hospitaller of Colmar, the building reflects the rich history of the region, with stained glass windows in the council chamber showing the coats of arms of successive owners.

This charming church in the heart of the Alsatian wine village of Niedermorschwihr is a historical gem. The church is best known for its unique twisted bell tower and the Baroque Silbermann organ from 1726, originally from Colmar. Both the tower and the organ have been protected as historical monuments since 1993.

A beautiful climb with very little traffic. The beginning in Gueberschwihr is quite steep, followed by moderate and steady climbing to the Col du Firstplan.
