This forest is part of the Way of St. James "Via Podiensis", which begins in Le-Puy-en-Velay. You reach or walk through it on the third stage (counting according to "Rother"), which leads from Saugues over more than 30 kilometers to Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole.

The town on the other side of the bridge bears the charming name of New World. You are here on the border between the departments of Haute-Loire and Lozère.

peaceful and sumptuous place on the way to Compostela at the beginning of September I obtained authorization to bivouac at the back of the building, it's an unforgettable memory!

This hostel belongs to the Haute-Loire department. In the early 13th century this wilderness was feared by pilgrims. After several attacks, the Templars built this protective castle and hostel for the pilgrims in the 13th century. Even today you can feel as safe behind the mighty granite blocks in this hostel as the pilgrims from the Middle Ages.
