The impressive Atlas (Telamon) was created in 1729 as a name-day gift for the wife of Baron Goswin Lübbert von Ketteler. It overlooks Herrkotten Castle von Ketteler. The following morning, the Baroness gazed out of her bedroom window and was overwhelmed by the majestic sight towering 500 meters in front of the hunting lodge. Glandorf is a municipality in the southwest of the Osnabrück district in Lower Saxony. The name comes from the term Glanathorpe - settlement on the Glane - and was first mentioned in documents in 1070.
