From Wikipedia: The castle, which was probably built from the stones of the demolished Burg Bürglein, was not protected by ramparts and walls, but only by a wide moat, over which a "Schlagprukken" (drawbridge) led. Ludwig the Bavarian gave permission for this fortification in 1337. For centuries the castle was the seat of the provost's office of the Cistercian monastery in Heilsbronn. It served as a country house for the abbot of the monastery. The castle fell into disrepair in the 19th century. Part of the walled-up moat and a cellar vault have been preserved.
