The Flensburg Marina (Stadthafen) is centrally located in the historic harbor area and offers almost 168 berths on modern wooden piers with electricity and water connections – ideal for guests and day visitors. The infrastructure is complemented by sanitary facilities with showers, a boat repair shop, a crane system, laundry facilities, and a restaurant – all easily accessible and in the immediate vicinity of Flensburg's historic old town and maritime attractions. In addition to the Stadthafen Marina, there are other attractive marinas in Flensburg: Marina Sonwik on the Inner Fjord is one of the largest and most modern. It has approximately 365 berths for yachts up to 25 meters in length, offers a minimum water depth of 6 meters, and comprehensive services, including 24/7 diesel supply and technical support on land.

The Port of Flensburg forms the maritime heart of the city of Flensburg and is located at the end of the Flensburg Fjord. It can be divided into the west side, the east side, and the harbor tip, and boasts impressive historical, industrial, and tourist attractions. On the west side is the picturesque Historic Harbor with the "Alexandra," a historic steamship, and the Museum Harbor, where around twenty traditional museum ships can be seen, including the shark cutter Dagmar Aaen. Maritime events such as the Rum Regatta and the Apple Cruise are regularly held there. The east side houses functional harbor areas: the guest sailing harbor with around 168 berths, offering modern amenities such as electricity and water, as well as the fishing harbor and the industrial harbor with quays for handling coal, fertilizer, grain, and scrap. Flensburger Hafen GmbH operates the entire harbor area and handles large volumes of freight traffic annually. Between the two sides lies the Hafenspitze, an open space that often serves as an event venue or simply invites you to linger – perhaps to play Frisbee or relax by the water.

Meierwik is a small bay on the Flensburg Fjord in the city of Glücksburg, characterized by its tranquil shoreline and natural setting. The view of the fjord offers expansive views across the water to the opposite coastlines, framed by wooded slopes and a shoreline of rockfall and vegetation. The area is characterized by a moraine ridge dating back to the last Ice Age, as well as moist lowlands in the hinterland. The geological structure is typical of the fjord region and provides a vivid picture of postglacial landscape development. Access to the shore in Meierwik is provided via the shore road, where a small parking lot is available. From here, short walks or longer hikes are possible. The section of the Fördesteig trail, which leads from Meierwik along the Tremmerup Forest and past Lake Roikier, is particularly popular. These trails combine views of the fjord with the diverse natural surroundings in the hinterland.

The Flensburg Fjord (Danish: Flensborg Fjord) is an approximately 40 to 50-kilometer-long inlet of the western Baltic Sea and forms the border between Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) and Denmark along its northern and southern sides. Geologically, it was formed by the indentation of a glacial tongue in the inland ice during the Weichselian glaciation. It is classified as a fjord rather than a fjord because its flanks are relatively low. The fjord is divided into two sections: the inner fjord toward Flensburg and the outer fjord, separated by the Holnis peninsula. At its western end, in Flensburg, it flows inland—the westernmost point of the Baltic Sea also lies along this line. Today, the region is an important sporting area, especially for sailors, and hosts major regattas such as the Flensburg Fjord Regatta and the Rum Regatta. Fjord Week, with events for classic yachts, is also part of the regular schedule. The Flensburg Fjord is also attractive for its landscape and tourism. It offers charming shorelines with beaches, steep coastlines, and moraine cliffs, nestled among gentle sandy areas. Nature and culture lovers will find a wealth of destinations along both shores: Flensburg with its historic old town and museum harbor, Glücksburg Castle, the Holnis peninsula with its protected salt marshes and lighthouses, as well as the Geltinger Birk nature reserve and the towns along the northern shore with the Gendarmenpfad (Gendarmen Trail) – a former border path along the Danish border. For centuries, the fjord has been shaped by passenger and freight traffic – historic steamers connected Flensburg with towns on both sides. Today, leisure boating, excursion boats, traditional yachts and marine activities dominate in Mürwik.

Museum harbor with the best fish stall in the guardhouse. Waiting in line is part of the experience, but it's worth it.

Not only the long loop around the Holnis peninsula is recommended, but the entire area – whether on foot or by bike. The combination of cliffs, beach, quiet country lanes, and expansive views over the Flensburg Fjord makes this tour truly special. 🌅 What I particularly like: ⦁ the varied landscape – from open fields to salt marshes to cliffs with sea views 🐚 ⦁ the proximity to nature – you often see seabirds, sometimes even deer or hares 🐦🦌 ⦁ the peaceful atmosphere, especially in the morning or evening hours The hiking trail is well signposted and easy to walk. It's very suitable for families and, very important because it's rarely mentioned: also suitable for strollers ✅ For cyclists: Please note that the nature reserve in the middle is closed to bicycles 🚫🚲 – but you can easily cycle around it and still experience much of the charm of the trail. Nevertheless, you'll often see intelligent beasts packing their brains into their saddlebags at the sign and speeding through like a monkey stung by a wasp 🤬 – which isn't surprising, considering that cyclists are often perceived as a nuisance. If you love nature and are looking for a tour that combines sea views, peace, and exercise, this is the place for you – whatever the season. 🌾❄️🌞 Highlights of the tour are definitely: ⦁ View from the Holnis Cliff ⦁ Denmark within reach ⦁ Birdwatching in the middle of the nature reserve ⦁ Swimming on the north beach ⦁ The old sailor's grave & Lake Pugumer

The harbor in Flensburg is definitely a highlight; there's so much to see and plenty of opportunities to enjoy delicious fish. My favorite part is the many boats, both old and new.
