An inlet is a narrow bay that extends significantly further into the land than it is wide. A distinction is made between estuaries and rias, which are formed in various ways from a river mouth; firths and fjords, which were carved out by glacial tongues of various kinds; and inlets of other origins, such as the Schlei. In English-speaking areas, such inlets often have the word inlet in their name. In addition, the word inlet is also used – analogous to river inlet – for an elongated strait that separates an island from the mainland or another island.

Many visitors to the town hall in Eggebek rub their eyes in amazement: There, quite cheekily, peers a white horse from the glass facade – the proverbial white official horse. Bernd Maro designed the colorful figure, which is comically exaggerated and continues into the interior of the building with its rear end. You can almost hear the loud neighing as the white horse winks at you. The cheerful sculpture quickly became a popular photo subject, not just at weddings. Another work by the artist, the figurative group Country Life, is located nearby in the open space on Klinkenberg. The Kograben (Danish: Kovirke) is a southern section of the Danevirke. Originally, it was an approximately 6.5-kilometer-long rampart with a ditch in front. Its eastern end was at the southern tip of the Selker Noor, about 4 kilometers south of the present-day city of Schleswig and about 1.5 kilometers south of the former settlement of Haithabu. From here, the Kograben ran in a straight westerly and slightly southerly direction to the Rheider Au river valley near Kurburg.

Hello, as of May 13, 2025: The Black Forest Loop trail has been severely damaged in some areas due to forestry work. The good news is that no major forestry work will be taking place there in the coming years. The trail and the damaged drops will be reconstructed in the foreseeable future.
