Bertembos Hunting Lodge is situated in a secluded, wooded landscape and once served as accommodation for aristocratic hunting parties. The historic building combines simple architecture with functional purpose. Today, the hunting lodge evokes earlier hunting traditions and is a quiet, atmospheric place for nature and history enthusiasts, retaining a special charm and regional significance.

The former hunting lodge is located near Nieuwstraat in Bertem. Nieuwstraat itself is a historic cobblestone road that connects Bertem with the Augustijnerhoeve farm, situated higher up.

A boardwalk is a walking path consisting of planks or wooden plates that are attached to poles or support beams above the ground. You often see them: • in marshy or wet areas, such as forests with marshy areas, dunes or nature reserves, • to ensure that walkers stay dry and do not damage the vulnerable nature, • sometimes in a straight line, sometimes winding (zigzagging) to follow the natural environment.

The play forest with play meadow is for young and old. Children can play there, drag branches, build huts and romp around on the play meadow. Not with traditional play equipment, but with naturally created play elements where they can use their imagination. Parents and grandparents can walk there and relax at the shelter. The large play meadow lends itself to an excellent picnic spot. A trip to the play forest is ideal for youth clubs, teachers and pupils. People with a disability have also been considered. The paved footpath at the play meadow is accessible for wheelchair users. In ecological terms, the play meadow is very well situated because of its southern orientation and associated microclimate. On the play meadow, landscape aspects are central, such as a small orchard, a flowery rough with a few spots for field flora, a forest edge with butterfly-friendly shrubs, embankments or ditches that allow heat-loving, special plants. The sunken road itself is quite beautiful with lots of life in the verges. The surface consists of pebbles for the most part. Especially down below it is beautiful with a view of the valley. On the other side, on the Bosstraat, you will find an information board about the area.

This path is located on the side of the forest with beautiful undulations and views. Like many paths that run from south to north and vice versa, you can walk from or to Bertem. Northwards you end up in Winksele, Veltem-Beisem is more in the north-west.
