Berlinde is a toponym and refers to 'berre' or barre linde. So there used to be a dry linden or one without leaves at this location. In 1623, Jan De Croock was paid for making a tree chapel. The stone chapel came after a petition from 1670 by Jan Eeghers, mayor of Laarne. An extension on the south side in 1774 gave the chapel its current form with an entrance portal and rood screen. Many parts of the interior are still authentic, such as the joinery and carpentry of the entrance door, the baluster railing of the rood screen and the plastered vault. The current bell tower replaces an older one. On the other side of the chapel is a cozy café with a terrace (De Berre Linde, formerly café De Kapelle).

The most beautiful view of the castle of Laarne is at the Kasteeldreef. This highlight is located in the Achterdreef. You can run around the moat of the castle here.

From here you have a beautiful view of the side of the castle once the leaves have fallen in autumn/winter.

The Scheldemeersen, Doornhammeke - on the left bank there is still a small, fine, unspoiled succession of small plots bordered with pollard willows. It is the typical small-scale landscape of the last 200 years with moist lakes and meanders cut off by the straightening of the Scheldt. The area is home to many biotopes in a small area compared to the right bank. In February 2023, a beaver family was spotted that have beautifully 'sculpted' the pollard willows.

The Peace Monument is a rather striking object in the flat lake landscape. It is a wooden structure built on a steel structure and represents a white peace flag. It is also a lookout tower and offers an excellent overview of the area. Depots are provided at the entrance of the path to the monument where you can secure your bicycle. This way you can visit the monument in peace without having to pass through the game fences with your bike. The unpaved paths through the area are accessible once you have passed the gates.
