The Adda is a river in northern Italy, 313 km long. Originating from Lake Como, it flows through Lombardy, serving as the border between Sondrio and Bergamo. It passes through Lecco, Como, Milan and Monza and Brianza, before joining the Po near Cremona. Renowned for its historical and environmental importance, it has shaped picturesque landscapes and crossed cities such as Lecco and Trezzo sull'Adda. Exploited for hydroelectric energy, it hosts power plants along the course. Its presence has influenced the history and industrial development of the region, making it a significant element of Lombardy's geography and culture.

The fourteenth-century basilica of San Bassiano is the only building left standing in Laus Pompeia, today Lodi Vecchia, which survived the destruction perpetrated by the Milanese army in 1158. Emperor Frederick Barbarossa decided to rebuild Laus a few kilometers away, on the Eghezzone hill and founded the new city: Laus Nova, today's Lodi. In addition to the basilica, it is also interesting to visit the archaeological remains of the old city.
