時計塔のある大聖堂は、ヴィットーリア広場の東側に位置し、家や宮殿のファサードがそのファサードを縁取っています。 今日私たちが目にしているような、市民や宗教の中心としての広場は、いくつかの時代を経て形成されました。 大聖堂の建設現場は当時の方法に従って組織され、つまり、地面に直接輪郭を描いてから後陣部分の建設を開始しました。 いわゆる「サルティエンティ」様式のファサードは、中央の身廊が2つの側廊よりも高く、幅が広い内部空間の構成を示唆しています。 ファサード中央上部には、サン・バッシアーノ像のブロンズコピーが収められた小祠が設置されています。元の銅像（金色のパティナ仕上げ）は、大聖堂の主身廊内に保管されています。 ファサード中央部はバラ窓が占めており、これは装飾的な要素であるだけでなく、内部に良好な採光を可能にしています。

バラ窓と屋根の傾斜部分の周りには、絡み合ったアーチの装飾と、ビザンチン様式に由来する多色のマヨルカタイルの装飾が見られます。 バラ窓の下には、ルネサンス様式の石造りの窓が2つ作られています。「燭台」様式の小柱と側面の紋章は、ヒューマニズム文化のモチーフを連想させます。 このファサードの最も特徴的な要素は、プロティロ（玄関ポーチ）です。ポータル（入口）の上のルネットには、救世主、王冠を戴いた聖母マリア、そして嘆願する聖バッシアヌスが描かれています。水平楣（まぐさ）の小柱にはアダムとイブが描かれ、その下には人間の悪徳を連想させる別の2人の人物が描かれています。ポータルは螺旋状の小柱で囲まれ、ポータルアーチを囲む装飾は、ロンバルディア派に由来する自然主義的な装飾モチーフで構成されており、蔓、螺旋、水生植物の葉などが特徴です。最後に、ポータルを囲み保護するキャノピーは、様式化されたライオンによって支えられています。

A bike ride took us to Lodi and among the wonders of this city there is a very small and very suggestive square, since it opens behind the Broletto and is closed between its porticoes and the left side of the Cathedral. Since the Middle Ages, the public life of the city has taken place here. Now there is the main seat of the Municipality and the Council, but also some stalls, a flower shop, the tourist office and a bar with outdoor tables. In the center, a fountain in pink Carrara marble, obtained from the baptismal font of the church.

One of the few saints who is highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in German-speaking countries as Francis of Assisi. Francis was born in Assisi in 1181/82 and died in 1226. In his youth, as the son of wealthy parents, he was more of a bon vivant, but later he turned to Christ. One day he was praying in the half-ruined church of San Damiano, located on a hillside outside the city walls of Assisi, and heard the voice of Christ from the cross, calling on him to "rebuild his church". At first he took this request literally and restored the church building, but later he came to the realization that this was primarily about the church as the community of believers. Francis became a role model for many people, they joined him and the "Order of the Minor Brothers" (Ordo Fratrum Minorum) of Francis of Assisi was founded. Today, there are three male branches in the vast Franciscan order: the Franciscans, the Minorites and the Capuchins; and two female branches: the Franciscan sisters and the Poor Clares. In addition, there is the "Third" or "Secular" Order, which can be joined by women and men who do not take the classic religious vows (poverty, chastity and obedience) and continue to live in their families and professions.

The Cathedral of Lodi is the oldest sacred building in the city. Its construction was commissioned by Frederick Barbarossa and began in the year 1160 and ended a hundred years later. The composition of the facade, the use of exposed bricks and the design layout make the Lodi Cathedral one of the most famous examples of Lombard-Emilian style, more commonly known as Romanesque.
