The Malga Stain refuge is run by kind and competent people. You eat very well and you can stay in small stone and wood houses. The natural terrace on which the refuge stands is beautiful and from here there is a wonderful view of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

In the middle of the path to the Rifugio Malga Stain, the pumped storage power plant suddenly appears in the forest. It's great that you can either climb over it or crawl under the tubes. At least you don't have to walk around it.

The refuge was only open from June 2nd, 2023, unfortunately we were a day too early, but the nice host sold us something to drink. Unfortunately, the kitchen was still closed. But the views from up here made up for it.

Narrow path that in the lower part climbs into the woods, presenting many roots that can become slippery when wet. In the central part the path is simpler, while in the other it becomes steep, with a rocky bottom and some sections with artificial steps. In some stretches they have beautiful views of Edolo and towards Aprica

Hut with kitchen and overnight accommodation either inside the hut or in the suspended support tents in the trees. Best to call to book. Adjacent to the refuge there is a beautiful meadow where it is possible to stop to sunbathe or have a picnic. Beautiful view towards Aprica.
