The refuge, built in the 1930s, is located at the base of the Volano basin, a splendid plateau enclosed like an amphitheater between the Colombè crests, the Badile Camuno peak and the Tredenus peaks.

The De Marie al Volano refuge, located in the middle Valle Camonica, starting from Cimbergo, inside the Adamello Park. Located in the suggestive Volano basin, surrounded by the spectacular Tredenus group and, to the south, with Pizzo Badile Camuno.

Pizzo Badile Camuno, m. 2.435, is located at the south-western end of the Adamello Group. It stands in the middle Valle Camonica and owes its name to the curious shovel shape of its top.

Pleasant wooded basin, not far from Volano and Colombè

Nice bivouac with 6 beds, recently renovated, reachable by a little exposed path

The Macherio bivouac is located on a rocky spur in the center of the Tredenus basin. It is a wooden construction on the inside and a red metal sheet on the outside. It has 6 beds with mattresses, pillows and blankets, a coffee table, six stools, a cabinet, a shelf, a stove and some pots and pans. There is no water nearby which therefore must be recovered by climbing, to the De Marie Refuge or from the stream that we will ford several times up to an altitude of m. 2045 where we will meet him for the last time outside a large left-hand bend. Later we may find streams in case of recent rains. Of course, snow can melt at the beginning of the season.
