Built between 1780 and 1783, Villa Margherita - Manfrin is a building designed by the Venetian architect Giannantonio Selva (among whose works the La Fenice Theater in Venice stands out) by order of the Marquis Girolamo Manfrin. In 1833, upon the death of Pietro Manfrin, son of Girolamo, the villa was inherited by his nephew Antonio Maria Plattis, who remained its owner for 20 years, until, in 1853, he sold it to Commendatore Luigi Trezza. Subsequently, in 1859, the villa was purchased by Davide Mondolfo Levi, whose family remained its owner for almost 40 years. In 1896 the real estate complex was sold to the English entrepreneur Adolfo Cristiano Lichtenberg, who decided to rename the estate Villa Margherita in homage to his wife Margaret Eleanor Bume, an English noblewoman. In 1915 Lichtenberg sold the villa to the Treviso Hospital. From 1919 to 1923 it was the seat of the Ministry for the reconstruction of lands liberated from the enemy. In 1937 the ownership definitively passed to the Municipality of Treviso. Since 1948 it has been used by the Italian Army: the central part was the headquarters of the Folgore Division Command until 1986, then remained as a Military District. Until 2014 it was the headquarters of the Mobile Units Division of the Carabinieri. The building is on three levels, with a façade developed lengthwise; the style is neoclassical, with the central pediment and the small gables that overlook the single-lancet windows of the main floor and the portal, also on the main floor, reachable via two elbow staircases, which connect it directly to the front garden, where there is a fountain decorated with sculptural elements. Internally, in the most important rooms, stuccoes are preserved. Among the annexes of the villa there are two barchesse which give the complex a U-shaped layout, being perpendicular to the rear facade of the town. Today it is currently closed to the public, while the large green area, freely accessible, is available to the community. Here there are, among others, the Margherita Theatre, the monopterous temple, the Manfrina with the Rams and the ancient cedraia, which forms the backdrop to the park and represents it more than anything else, with its semicircular body it is delimited by thirty columns of the Doric order. Today this building houses the bar and the spaces linked to the activities of the Talking Trees Park project created by the Gli Leggi group.
