The origins of the Cattedrale dell'Immacolata Concezione date back to the Middle Ages, probably in the 12th century, but its current appearance dates back to the 19th century and the charm is linked to the original mix of different styles. The Cathedral of Bosa, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, is the co-cathedral of the Diocese of Alghero-Bosa and rises almost next to the right bank of the Temo River, along which stretches the medieval Sa Costa district. As you walk through the narrow streets of the village with colorful houses, you will suddenly see the imposing profile of the cathedral and the facade with late baroque and neoclassical taste, divided into two orders separated by a projecting cornice with red pilasters and pilasters Trachyte. Once through the entrance you will see a plan showing a single nave with a barrel vault divided into bays and facing four chapels on each side. The first chapel on the right will actually appear like a church in its own right: called the “great chapel of the Sacred Heart,” it is decorated with side altars and its presbytery is raised and vaulted.
