Beautiful half-timbered houses in Mühlenstraße, not far from Rehna Monastery

The Oberteich is the town lake of Schönberg, a town in northwest Mecklenburg. The approximately eleven-hectare Oberteich is located within the town limits of Schönberg, northwest of the historic center around St. Laurentius Church and the market square. It is surrounded by a park with a lakeside path, a prominent feature of the townscape. As a fishing area, the Oberteich contains eel, perch, bream, pike, carp, roach, tench, and zander. It is fed from the west by the Rupensdorfer Bach stream, along which lie other extensive lakes and pond systems, such as the Rupensdorf Ponds and the Schilfteich (Reed Pond), which is connected to a carp breeding facility. This natural network provides Schönberg with an attractive local recreation area, to which several of the town's sports and leisure facilities are attached. The lake was dammed in the Middle Ages and served as a millpond. It was mentioned in the election capitulation of Bishop Heinrich III of Ratzeburg. Bergmeier's document from 1511 contains the passage: "He was obliged, if he were to own Schönberg, not to dam the water in the upper pond (Latin: 'superior piscina', still called Oberteich) in such a way that the people in Rubensdorf suffered damage, however he had to keep sufficient water for his mill."

A beautiful half-timbered house on the opposite side of the market attracts attention: the Zeiss'sche Haus, Markt 12 and 13, which was built as a town hall in 1692 and is therefore one of the oldest houses in the city. From the many users that followed, the eponymous family has been preserved, which initially ran a bookbinding shop, a book and paper shop and a photo studio here in the 20th century...." http://www.ipernity.com/doc/1081883/46583388

The old town hall in Rehna in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg is a listed half-timbered building with a plastered facade. It is located near the market square at Mühlenstraße 1 and was used as the town hall and the seat of the administration of the Rehna district until 1998. The building is a two-story, gabled half-timbered house with a fieldstone base and mansard roof. On the latter there is a lantern tower. The half-timbering is made of bricks. The plastered, three-story facade has five axes on the ground floor. A six-step staircase with wrought iron railings leads to the central door, which is framed by pilasters (wall pillars) and an architrave (horizontal beam). There are six window axes on the first floor. Above this begins the two-zone curved segmental gable with two windows and a central clock in the lower zone and a horizontal segmental window in the upper zone. The octagonal, open lantern tower with bell is covered with a baroque-style tail cap on which a compass rose is located. The building, which was built in the 18th century, was originally a granary and was owned by the Hoyer family until 1791. When the Zeiss House, which had previously been used as the town hall, became too small for the town, it bought the building for 3,500 Reichstaler. The renovation, which lasted until 1810, cost another 3,272 Reichstaler. The building contained rooms for the magistrate, apartments for the mayor and the councilors and later prison cells in the attic. After a major fire in 1831, the roof tower and a clock were added in 1833. The facade was plastered around 1900, the service rooms were enlarged in 1903 and a fireproof filing room was created. In 1998, the town and district administration moved from the town hall to the Long House of the Rehna monastery complex. After the extensive renovation of the Old Town Hall in 2003, the building now houses an educational institution and apartments. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altes_Rathaus_(Rehna)
