Rehnaer Mühlenteichを浚渫しようとする試みが完全に失敗してから、すでに20年近くが経過しました。2007年1月、「キリル」という名のハリケーンは、掘削機を沈めただけでなく、プロジェクトを今後数年間凍結させました。19年後、Mühlenteichは浚渫され、その上に桟橋が建設されました。 桟橋の訪問者からは、陸側にあるはずの手すりが欠けているとの苦情がありました。しかし、Martin Reininghausにはその説明があります。「この桟橋は公式には、MühlenteichをRadegastの流れから分離するシートパイル壁にある2つの40センチメートルの仕切りへのサービス用桟橋にすぎません。これにより、水がMühlenteichに流れ込み、Radegastがその流速を維持できるようになります。」

Only upon reaching this monument will the passing walker or hiker realize that this is not one of the small religious monuments so often encountered. This symbol of the death of Jesus Christ, rising like a summit cross, serves instead as a war memorial. It was erected to commemorate the many victims of war and tyranny everywhere, including here, during the first half of the 20th century. Despite the considerable passage of time, such a memorial has lost none of its relevance: its constant reminder to us and all future generations to preserve peace remains the enduring message of this monument.

A fantastic view over the lake

It's crazy what happened here until 1989. Today, the tower lies in the middle of the forest, and you almost drive past it without noticing. Before the fall of the Wall, it was all open ground, and the tower was manned by soldiers who had orders to shoot any refugees.

A beautifully constructed bridge on the former railway embankment between Dassow and Schönberg. From here, you have a magnificent view of the Stepenitz and Maurine lowlands with their reed and moor landscape.

Mummendorf Village Church The old brick church sits picturesquely on its hill above the wild and romantic meadows of the Stepenitz River. The small river meanders through its winding valley through forest and fields, following its traditional bed, which has never been straightened or altered. From the church, gaze over the river and hilltops, and you're looking down on two ancient lands. For centuries, the Mummendorf parish united what had been politically divided: the villages west of the Stepenitz belonged to Mecklenburg-Strelitz, those east to Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
