As early as 1264-1289, Neuwühren appeared in the "Kiel City Register" under the name de Javorn, which derives from the Old Polabite (a Slavic root) word Javor for maple. Shortly thereafter, it was renamed Nî-Jaworn, indicating that, as was common at the time, a German "new" village was founded alongside the Wendish one for the purpose of colonization. By 1460, the village was already called Nyenwörden—it was now only a short distance to Neuwühren. Like most of the surrounding villages, Neuwühren belonged to the Preetz Monastery. After the construction of the church there, Neuwühren became part of the Elmschenhagen parish. In 1931, the village was incorporated into the newly founded municipality of Pohnsdorf.

A great project by the nature conservation group and a home for many insects

The chapel is part of the building stock of the noble Preetz monastery and was originally built in 1882 as a fire station for fire protection on the Neuwühren estate. Even without God, I like this place. With a short break, you can enjoy the wonderful peace in the chapel.

A small lookout tower offers a view over the "Raisdorfer Toad Ponds", carp ponds in the name of nature conservation.

This landscape was formed between 100,000 and 10,000 years ago thanks to the last Ice Age. End moraines are characterized by the wall-like deposits of rock material that was carried by the glacier. You can still see these deposits here in the form of gentle green hills.

Both sexes have laterally spreading horns. In the case of the cow, these point upwards and in the case of the ox, however, they point forward.
