The nature reserve with the identifier number 128 is located in a moraine landscape south of Kirchbarkau, between Bordesholm and Preetz. The somewhat higher and drier elevations are dominated by grassland. Hedgerows and scattered deciduous forest communities and woodlands are also found. The grassland areas are used for agriculture. Some areas are extensively grazed by Galloway cattle. The grassland areas are no longer drained and are thus becoming waterlogged.
