A church was first mentioned there in 1301. In 1659, a visitation report described it as a very poor, dilapidated little church. It had only one altar and only one chalice. It was only in 1775 that Abbot Bernhard Winterl (1744-1780) had the old little church torn down and the current single-nave church with a round choir built in the Baroque style. On the western side rises the squat porch tower with the flat pyramid roof.

The large iron cross on a stone base was made in 1834 by Count Egger from the last batch of the Feistritzer raft furnace. It commemorates the fallen in the battles against the French in September 1813.[
