This beautiful little chapel is located between Lake Wörthersee and the Pyramidenkogel.

On the Kathreinkogel, huts of various dimensions were found wherever natural depressions in the steep slopes provided absolute protection from the wind. A remarkable farm site dating to the 12th/11th century BC was uncovered on a western slope terrace. The most important find is a prehistoric vertical loom.

Signpost The Kathreinkogel lies between Schiefling am Wörthersee and St. Egyden an der Drau. From the Kreuzwirt parking lot, it's about a 30-minute walk to the summit plateau.

The 772-meter-high Kathreinkogel, located between the Drava River and the western bay of Lake Wörthersee, stands out prominently from the valley floor. It has been inhabited since the 7th millennium BC. Surface finds indicate that Mesolithic hunter-gatherers (7th/6th millennium BC) and Neolithic farmers (3rd millennium BC) already used the mountain as a settlement.
