The renovation took place between 2011 and 2017 after 31 years of vacancy. This was an "energy-efficient and substance-preserving renovation" in a project funded by the Federal Office for Building and carried out primarily by the German Half-Timbered House Center Quedlinburg e.V. The renovation measures included the repair of windows, floors, ceilings and roof structures as well as the renovation of the exterior walls and professional plaster renewal. In addition to energy-efficient insulation, efforts were also made to restore the historical paintings inside. This included, in detail, wooden beam paintings such as floral ornamentation, flower tendrils and panel paintings and a 19th century wall decoration; on the other hand, the noble coats of arms of the ancestors and relatives of the von Rössings in the Knights' Hall, such as the coats of arms of the families of Ilten, Veltheim, Gadenstedt, Oldershausen, Mandelsloh, Knigge, Landesbergen, Steinberg, Saldern, Haus, Rabe v. According to a building inscription on the south side, the church was built in 1583 as a single-nave rectangular building using a west tower from a previous building mentioned in documents in 1262. This tower has paired sound openings on each side, which are divided into two by delicate columns. The nave is accessed through a round-arched south portal, which is probably also older and, according to the capital ornamentation, dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. Inside, the nave is closed off by a beamed ceiling, which is decorated with florally painted beams and is supported by a wooden central support. A two-sided gallery has been installed, the western part of which has passion paintings in the parapets, including coats of arms of the councilors and other prominent people of the city from the mid-17th century.
