Not far from the summit of the Aschberg stands this imposing Bismarck statue from 1901.

On the Hülseberg, a large summit cross in a huge treeless meadow marks the top of the 88 m high hill. The panoramic view over the Westensee with perfect solar alignment is good but not particularly spectacular.

Moving Bismarck: 1901 first erected in Apenrade, on the occasion of the 1920 referendum in Schleswig, where Apenrade became Danish, Bismarck was kept in a barn near Rendsburg for 10 years, until it was finally erected here in 1930.

From the freely accessible 20 m high observation tower Aschberg enjoys a 360° panoramic view over the treetops. In the north you can discover Schleswig.

The 98-meter-high Aschberg is an ideal starting point for exploring the Hüttener Berge. At the end of the 19th century, a 10-meter-high wooden observation tower was first built on the Aschberg. This so-called Kaiser Wilhelm Tower existed until 1918. The current new Aschberg Tower was completed in 2013 and is approximately 20 meters high. At the highest point of the Aschberg, next to the observation tower, the names of the 20 communities in the surrounding Hüttener Berge Nature Park are inscribed on stones in a small stone circle. The Aschberg (Danish: Askbjerg; Askebjerg) is a 98 m above sea level elevation in the Hüttener Berge Nature Park in Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the municipality of Ascheffel. In good weather, the view extends as far as the Baltic Sea. The Nature Park Trail runs across the Aschberg, connecting five nature parks in Schleswig-Holstein for hikers. The Aschberg was formed during the Vistula glaciation. The 7 m high Bismarck statue, designed by the sculptor Adolf Brütt and made of repoussé copper by the Berlin metal sculptor Gustav Lind, has stood on the Aschberg since 1930. It was reclaimed in 1919 from the niche of the Bismarck Tower on the Knivsberg near Aabenraa in North Schleswig at the instigation of the Knivsberg Society. At the end of the 19th century, a wooden observation tower was first built on the Aschberg, and was renovated a few years later.
