Here are the facts about the West Works Bridge: Special feature: It is a single-pylon cable-stayed bridge (it has only one large pylon), which gives it a striking, almost "San Francisco"-like appearance. Function: It connects the northern and southern parts of the Höchst Industrial Park. Not only trucks and cars cross it, but also trains (it has its own track) and utility lines. Construction period: Built from 1970 to 1972 on behalf of the then Hoechst dye works. Dimensions: It is approximately 300 meters long and 31 meters wide. The pylon rises around 52 meters high. Accessibility: As it is part of the factory grounds, it is closed to regular car traffic. However, pedestrians and cyclists can cross it on a separate path to travel between Sindlingen and Kelsterbach.

The Catholic Church of St. Joseph, a listed building worth seeing, was consecrated in 1909.

Old oak tree on Erbsengasse: This natural monument is located within the town limits of Hattersheim, near the Green House and the Altmünster Mill, and is a striking feature of the landscape. The old oak, with its wide-spreading crown, defines the edge of the old town. Trunk circumference 4.70 meters, height approx. 18 meters.

This forest, dubbed the northernmost pine forest in Europe (though I'm not an expert, I'd guess it's *Pinus pinea*), was probably a mistake. In the 19th century, the Kapellenberg hill was reforested, and these pines were planted on its barren, rocky southern slope. The city's 1878 accounts mention 11,500 young *Pinus* saplings – without specifying them further. Did *Pinus pinea* sound much more like a pine tree to the buyer than *Pinus sylvestris*? In any case, the Mediterranean plants seem to thrive here, attracting many a surprised glance from passersby.
