The ruins of Frauenstein Castle are located on a 680-meter-high granite porphyry rock on the ridge of the Eastern Ore Mountains near the town of Frauenstein in the district of Central Saxony. See: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Frauenstein_(Erzgebirge)

The ruins of Rechenberg Castle, also known as Schanze, are located on a rock face directly on the road in Rechenberg-Bienenmühle. The former Rechenberg Castle burned down in 1586 and was listed as a historical monument in 1969. The remains of the castle, which was about 70 by 150 meters in size, are now the restaurant, which was the former gatehouse, and the town hall, which was the former manor house, at the foot of the mountain.

Unfortunately, the castle is privately owned, so access is not possible. The gate was open, but a lock screen alerted me to private property. The site is also so well managed that a lot of greenery does not allow a view of the house, and not much can be seen from the pond below either.

At the upper end of the Schmiedeberg district of Naundorf, between the Ochsenbach and Saubach valleys, are the remains of a former manor that was never one of the wealthy aristocratic estates, but whose owners were very interested in the development and exploitation of mineral resources in the 15th century their surroundings.

Naundorf Castle opposite the park entrance was originally a manor. The village and the manor Naundorf are over 600 years old. First mentioned in documents in 1404, the old castle was probably built in the 15th century where the converted Bierlingsche greenhouse still stands today. Around 1850 the remains of this old castle and the "old tower" that faced the tower of the new castle for more than a hundred years were demolished. Wilhelm v. Build Schönberg in 1608, the tower was added around 1715. Every generation of owners - the v. Schoenberg, v. amber, v. Buenau, v. Carlowitz, Otto and Bierling - left their structural traces on the estate and in the castle, which characterize the building to this day. The collapse of the monarchy in 1918 and the founding of the Weimar Republic changed many things in the life of the population. After the end of the Second World War, the property suffered a fate similar to that of many castles, manors and mansions in eastern Germany. It was used as a nursing home for some time during the GDR era and also during the reunification. Unfortunately, from 1999 onwards, the tendency only went in one direction – decline. However, since 2017 there has been a new owner and he is bringing new life to the castle. The homepage of the Friends of Naundorf Castle e.V. provides interesting and transparent information on the status of the renovation and the possibility of viewings. http://schloss-naundorf.de/impressionen/ http://schloss-naundorf.de/ueber-mich/revolution-in-naundorf-1918-19/
