This state park sits on the edge of Virginia's largest lake—John Hosea Kerr Reservoir. There are over 20 miles (32 km) of hiking and biking trails to explore, as well as picnic areas and cabins. The park is open daily from 8am until dusk.

Located on the Roanoke River, this area is made up of rolling fields that are home to diverse wildlife. You may spot bald eagles in the skies. They're known to overwinter here. During the colder months, huge numbers of ducks and geese gather in the wetlands along the river, whilst in summer, beavers are busy building their dams.

Kerr Lake is a huge reservoir and one of the best fishing lakes in the eastern US. There are trails for hiking and you can swim and paddleboard on the water. If you want to stay the night, you can park an RV or camp at the Kerr Lake State Recreation Area.
