Seehof Castle is always worth a visit

The magnificent facades of the New Residence show how the baroque prince-bishops resided. A highlight of the baroque interior is the Kaisersaal. The Tyrolean-born painter Melchior Steidl frescoed the walls and ceiling of the hall from 1707 to 1709 with a complex pictorial program that shows the connection between the prince-bishopric and the rulers of the Old Kingdom. In addition to the showrooms of the palace administration, the New Residence also houses the State Gallery of the Bavarian State Painting Collections with masterpieces of old German and Baroque painting. The New Residence is a multi-wing, listed building on Domplatz in Bamberg in Upper Franconia. Neue Residenz is situated 250 meters south of St. Mark's Bridge.

The keep is accessible again - one euro (1€) entrance fee - definitely worth it.

Just like ancient Rome, Bamberg is considered a city on seven hills. The Altenburg has stood on the highest hill west of the old town since at least 1109. Even the viewing terrace offers a beautiful panoramic view over Bamberg and the surrounding area. From the keep, the view is even more spectacular. About 20 km away in the northeast, on the other side of the Regnitz valley, you can see the Giechburg near Scheßlitz. E.T.A. From 1810 Hoffmann was employed at the Bamberg Theater as a director's assistant, dramaturge and decorative painter. In 1812 he lived in one of the wall towers. Hence the name of the restaurant "Hoffmannsklause". Opening hours: 9.00-19.00

Magnificent building opposite the cathedral. Today the State Gallery is housed here, among other things. Anyone interested in baroque art has come to the right place.
