Burg Lißberg in Lißberg

Interesting building ensemble from different eras. Somehow everything fits together harmoniously. An absolute must when visiting Bamberg.

A super nice resting place, really highly recommended, you can't get to the tower / castle

The rampart is a ruin of a spur castle at 311.5 m above sea level. NN high foothills of the Steigerwald south of Eltmann in the Haßberge district in Lower Franconia. Traces of the terrain and the keep have been preserved from the former official castle of the Würzburg Monastery. The name Wallburg, attested since 1303, indicates a prehistoric or early medieval rampart. The Altenburg is a medieval hilltop castle in the west of the independent city of Bamberg in the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Franconia

Together with the cathedral and the new residence in Bamberg, the old court forms a historically grown square ensemble of European importance in the heart of the world heritage city of Bamberg. Emperor Henry II made Bamberg a bishopric in 1007. The old court was the bishops' first residence. The half-timbered buildings that have survived to the rear were built from 1475, and from 1568 the council chamber building and the beautiful gate were added to the cathedral square.
