The Zarrenthin Kiessee is an artificially created gravel pit lake in the Zarrenthin district of the municipality of Bentzin in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was created as a result of industrial gravel mining that began in the 1960s. Geologically, the lake lies in a meltwater channel formed during the Weichselian glaciation. It has an area of 54 hectares, a length of 1.5 kilometers, a width of 500 meters, and a maximum depth of up to 28 meters.

The Botanical Garden and Arboretum in Greifswald are maintained by the University of Greifswald. The Botanical Garden is located west of the train station and the historic city center, the Arboretum is about two kilometers southeast of Greifswald center, near Berthold-Beitz-Platz.
