In 1986, a police car crashed into a street after a burst water pipe had washed out the road. This led to the rediscovery of the cellar labyrinth, which presumably stretches over 40 km. The city faced a problem because the city's structural stability was at risk. The investigation revealed that the passageways and cellars had been completely filled—partly with waste—or were still owned by private individuals. However, it was decided to preserve a 500 m labyrinth and open it to the public. Since no historical records exist regarding the cellar labyrinth, nothing is known about its use. Presumably, other goods were stored in the cellars besides wine. Small niches in the walls indicate that these were markers for the ownership of the warehouses. The cellar labyrinth consists of seven levels that were dug horizontally into the mountain and connected to each other. The cellar vaults belonged to the first person to excavate the space, regardless of which house it was located under. The Falkenberg Hut is picturesquely situated above Dienheim in Rheinhessen and is a popular rest stop along the RheinTerrassenWeg (Rhine Terrace Trail). It was donated by the Dienheim Development Community and offers stunning views of Oppenheim, Dienheim, and the Rhine Valley through two large panoramic windows. The hut is ideal for a break during a hike or bike ride – quietly located, with beautiful views, and surrounded by vineyards. It's a perfect place to pause for a moment and enjoy the scenery.

The Falkenberghütte is located on the Rheinterassenweg above Dienheim and is a lovely place to take a break. It was donated and built by the Dienheim development community. Right next door, two panoramic windows direct the view towards Oppenheim and Dienheim.

So far I've taken pretty much every friend and relative with me and they've all been thrilled. Before or after, you can have a drink on the market square.

From here you have a beautiful view of Oppenheim and the surrounding area. From a distance you can see what an impressive building the St. Catherine's Church must be.
