On the path between Walthersdorf and Sehma, on the Sehmaer Höhe, there are magnificent views at any time of day, including the Pöhlberg.

With every step, closer to the summit – the Fichtelberg climb on the Stoneman Miriquidi Road. From the intersection, it's not far anymore, and motivation gets a final boost.

https://youtu.be/UfDsHyKypsc Today we're visiting the Frohnauer Iron Hammer in Annerberg-Buchholz. Combining this with a city walk is unfortunately canceled due to heavy rain. We're lucky, a guided tour starts just as we arrive. We learn that the forge was originally a grain mill, indicating that the building is over 600 years old. The conversion to a hammer mill began in 1621. To show us a variety of tools and equipment, the large hammers are powered by water. They date back to the 17th century. Loud thumping, powerful force: everything that could be made of iron at that time was made here. From horseshoes to tools, weapons, household items, and even wrought iron works. The facility is the oldest functioning of its kind in Germany and has been a technical monument and museum since 1909. Is it part of the UNESCO World Heritage Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region? Passing the waterwheel, we see products manufactured here on the upper floor. Some of these are very delicate and beautiful. The locking mechanism of the iron chest is also complex. Let's look down at the historic hammer mill from above. Now we head over to the current folk art gallery, where we get a glimpse into Erzgebirge woodcarving. Is there also a model of the Frohnau mining landscape here? The small figures are busy, from vein prospecting, mining, and extraction to ore processing. The mill dates back to 1964. The tour continues in the manor house, completed in 1697. We get a demonstration of bobbin lace-making, which is interesting to watch. Is this craft still taught in schools in the region? It is estimated that more than 20,000 people between Dresden and Zwickau still master the craft. On the wall, among the historic furniture, we also see the Martin family tree. The family lived here for over 200 years. An interesting visit, we spontaneously join the guided tour of the exhibition. We experience a journey through the entire Ore Mountains' crafts. The historic hammer mill and blacksmithing are impressive, as the entire region was once an ore mining area. We also learn something about the craft of woodcarving. We can hardly keep up with the speed of the lace-making.

The Catholic Church of St. Boniface belongs to the Catholic parish of "Mary, Mother of the Church." This parish stretches from Thum through Annaberg-Buchholz, Bärenstein, Oberwiesenthal, Marienberg, and Olbernhau to Neuhausen. In September 2021, St. Boniface celebrated the centenary of its consecration.
