The Church of Santa María la Mayor (Spanish: Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor) is a Catholic church located in the historic center of Vélez-Málaga, in the province of Málaga, Spain. It was built on the remains of a former mosque (aljama) at the end of the 15th century. Inside is a Renaissance altarpiece located above the main altar.

The Puerta Real de la Villa (Royal Gate): This is one of the most important remains. Located on the Plaza de la Constitución, this angled gate (a type of Nasrid defense) provided access to the medina and is protected by a rectangular tower.

The Gothic and Mudéjar-style Church of San Juan Bautista in Vélez-Málaga was built in 1487 on the site of a medieval mosque. Throughout its history, it has undergone several renovations and structural changes. It was enlarged between 1541 and 1564, and its famous bell tower was added. It features three naves of six bays each, separated by six-pointed transverse arches. The central nave is the largest and contrasts in size with the other two. The other major restoration took place in the mid-19th century, during which Neoclassical features were added. The work was commissioned by Federico Vahey, Minister of Justice under Isabella II. It is a church of great architectural, historical, and artistic value.

The mules are used for production of Muscatel grapes. There is no mechanisation.

From up here I have a wonderful view of the Pico Tejera (La Maroma), the villages of Almáchar, El Borge and Comares, as well as Vélez Málaga, Torre del Mar and Iznájar.

The view from up here is sensational.

Typical white town of Málaga of about 1600 inhabitants in which its parish church dedicated to San Mateo stands out. This was built in the 16th century and combines late Gothic elements with some Renaissance and Mudejar details.
