If you're already here, you should definitely climb the Kalkberg. There's a beautiful and expansive view from the top of the theater, the city, and the surrounding countryside.

Easy to moderately difficult route, perfect for warm days as there's plenty of shade. There's also a superbly maintained outdoor pool for cooling off, as well as the absolutely charming Café Goldmarie with delicious cappuccino and cake. Highly recommended as a reward after a lap around the lake :)

It is not made of limestone (calcium carbonate, as its name suggests), but of gypsum (hydrated calcium sulfate) near the surface and an unweathered anhydrite (pure calcium sulfate) at its core.
