After several hikes around Bad Bramstedt, this route (Route 2) was one of the most beautiful. The hiking trails and the nature there are simply fantastic.

Beautiful spot on the Osterau. A narrow bridge takes you across the river. Pure idyll all around. You can also read all about the flora and fauna on the Osterau on information boards.

The approximately 19 hectare nature reserve is registered under number 61 in the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas' register of nature reserves. It is under protection since October 26, 1962. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Segeberg district. The nature reserve is located southeast of Bad Bramstedt. It consists of four areas. The northernmost of the sub-areas, the Schapbrooker Moor, is located northwest of the Bad Bramstedt junction of the Federal Motorway 7, and the Katenmoor is located southwest of it. The Schindermoor is also located west of the motorway and borders directly on it to the east. These three areas are located in the Bad Bramstedt area. The fourth area, the Dewsbeeker Moor, which is located on the edge of the lowlands of the Schmalfelder Au, is cut through by the motorway. Most of the area to the east of the motorway lies in the area of the municipality of Schmalfeld. The area west of the motorway is in the Bad Bramstedt area.
