Many castles and manor houses offer culture and tourist attractions, including Stellshagen, Bothmer, Plüschow, Dönkendorf, Lütgenhof and Gut Brook. Brook is located directly on the Baltic coast, on the Bay of Lübeck. The extensive manor complex is only 500 meters from the beach and is elevated in a rolling terminal moraine landscape. The estate, which is now very well maintained, with a manor house and numerous manor buildings, already shows the territorial proximity to Schleswig-Holstein, because the type of mighty building ensemble can be found in many estates in Holstein. Brook, along with many other estates, belonged to the county of Bothmer for a long time. In 1715, the Imperial Counts of Bothmer, originally from Hanover, founded a majorate county in the Klützer Winkel. As a result, they built Bothmer Castle near Klütz, which is the largest baroque castle complex in Mecklenburg. Gut Brook has been privately and ecologically managed for several years with the also former Bothmer estate Christinenfeld. A number of holiday apartments have been built and numerous cultural events take place at Brook. It was a double moated castle, as the two brothers Hartwig and Heinrich Maltzahn had a terrible falling out. The upper wall was called "the right castle", the lower wall "the outer castle". Both had their own gates and bridges to the land route! The upper part was partially destroyed when the Tollense was straightened. Unfortunately, the remains of the foundations can no longer be viewed today because there is no access to them and everything is overgrown!

Broock Castle was considered a popular social meeting place in the 19th century and was known for its horse breeding. The building, which has been vacant since 1980, is in serious need of renovation. A local alliance came together in 2014 to preserve the facility.

The formerly largest and most renowned private stud farm in Western Pomerania was once the social center of the region. The project In June 2017, SCHLOSS BROOCK GmbH & Co. KG took over the estate in Broock, which was in dire need of renovation. A long-abandoned gem of the Western Pomeranian cultural landscape that has been left to decay for decades looks forward to a hopeful future. When I visited, there were vehicles and a crane to be seen, but no construction workers. The construction doesn't seem to have progressed that well since 2017.
