In the immediate vicinity of the Old Love is the memorial of the minesweepers. The memorial, built by the Hamburger Minesweekers' Association, was inaugurated on June 9, 1935 (Pentecost) on the occasion of a minesweeper meeting. The memorial was designed by the then head of the Sperrzeugamt Cuxhaven, Kapitänleutnant Erich Bodanowitz.
The memorial has a height of 4.5 m. The centerpiece of the building is a genuine sea mine from the First World War.
The monument and the surrounding wall are related. The enclosure wall is designed as a parapet, with which the use of anti-mine fighters (minesweepers) should be appreciated.
The entrance to the monument is sealed off with an iron chain.
In March 1981, the 80x50 cm large bronze plate of the memorial was stolen. This theft was never solved. A new plate was made and attached. It bears the same inscription as the stolen copy:
"Where from the depths the death threatens German warfare, men commit themselves that the others should be free."
From 2005, the memorial was extensively restored by the specially founded Friends.
