Vitsa is one of the largest villages in the center of Zagori. It is located at an altitude of 955 m on a mountainside near the Vikos Gorge and is connected by roads to the Greek National Road 6. Vitsa is famous for its old Missios double arch bridge. In ancient times, Zagori was inhabited by the Molossians. Excavations in Genitsari near Vitsa led to the discovery of a settlement possibly of the Tymphaeans or the Molossians, which dates back to the 9th to 4th centuries BC. To be dated. There were traces of foundations of small buildings from archaic (geometric) and classical times and a cemetery with at least 140 graves that contained coins, ceramics and weapons.
