The guardians of the Goitzsche are a group of sculptures by the German artist Anatol Herzfeld. The ten approximately two-meter iron figures each have a red breast shield and a red flag and are grouped around a large boulder from the open pit, which in turn rests on three smaller boulders and is surrounded by five small boulders that show faces. The large boulder carries the lettering "FRANZ", which refers to the Anhalt-Dessau prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz (1740-1817), "founder" of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom refers. Around the guards around a circle of about 70 smaller boulders is again arranged.
