Lake Eychauda is a natural lake of glacial origin. It is one of the largest lakes in the Écrins massif. It is also located in the heart of the Écrins National Park and thus constitutes a refuge of choice for biodiversity. Its milky appearance, fed by meltwater from the Séguret Foran glacier, makes it easily identifiable.

In a mineral and glacial environment, Lake Eychauda is a glacial lake, that is, it only thaws a few months a year and has a very short summer period of organic production. It was dug by the Séguret Foran glacier, and appeared during the glacier retreat, such as the lakes of Rouies, the Arsine glacier, the Quirlies. It is fed by Torrent des Oules.
Lake Eychauda is a typical lake lock, that is to say a lake of glacial origin (Lake du to the overcrowded mountain by a glacier).
