Artists: Mikael Ericsson and Julie Ericsson
Year: 2011 (2016)
Material: cast iron and steel
Location: Vallen am SlottsparkenThe sound art work was originally placed in the town hall, but it was soon silenced because the power cord was constantly pulled off. The sound can be "sensitive". Therefore, the Snigelofon had to get a new life outdoors.
At its new location on the embankment in the parking lot opposite the town hall, the artwork still has contact with its original context. The artists Mikael and Julie Ericsson have reworked the sound for their new environment.
The starting point was that the sound should provide security and at the same time should not disappear in the sometimes loud car noise. The physical work of art consists of two parts, a recycled old mill of cast iron, which has the shape of a shell and a megaphone-like funnel, which was there joined by the association of a snail (Snigelophon). The sound polarizes - I personally liked the somewhat mystical sounds -
