Waldzell was an independent municipality in the district of Lohr am Main until its dissolution. Since July 1, 1972 Waldzell belongs to the district Main-Spessart and is since May 1, 1978 a district of Steinfeld. In the same year, on May 25, the foundation stone of today's St. Vitus Church was laid. On June 12, 2000, the anniversary Gertraudenfest was celebrated on the occasion of the extension of the Gertraudenkapelle 150 years ago.
