Very nice piece of bike path on the Canal de la Deûle. Parts of the Deule were made navigable as early as the 13th century, but goods had to be transported around a natural threshold on an island that gave its name to the state capital, Lille. It was connected to the River Scarpe in the 17th century and to the River Lys in the 18th.
