Cattle Market Hammelburg

The market rights in Hammelburg are probably documented until the 14th century.
It is not known for sure whether cattle were also traded on the market.
The cattle market itself is said to have been used as such for 100 years after the great city fire from around 1860.
From 1962 cattle were then traded on the pale lawn.

The cattle marketplace was redesigned with great and critical participation from the population; In 2015/16 it got its current appearance.
Since then, efforts have been made to liven up the square with attractive events, such as the summer concerts.
For "normal everyday life" there is still room for improvement:
As you can see in the photo, the chairs are raised.
