The giant in Filzalmsee

A long, long time ago, a giant spread fear and terror among the people around the Filzalm. On a beautiful summer day, the evil giant hurled stones out of the blue from the Hohe Salve onto the grounds of the Filzalm and caused great harm. As a punishment, a terrible thunderstorm was sent from the sky and the loud rumble of thunder could be heard from afar. Suddenly a tremendous lightning struck and tore a hole in the alpine floor. Due to the heavy rain, the hole quickly filled with water and the Filzalmsee as we know it today was created.

The evil giant was vanquished and he was banished to the lake for his wrongdoing. The terrible giant has been stuck at the bottom of Lake Filzalm since that day. From time to time the giant fights to the surface and emerges from the floods. So take a close look - you may also meet the giant from Filzalmsee!
