It has been located on the Miravalle hill since 1965. It was first blessed and then transported back to Rovereto.

You can go to this monument worth visiting even very high (E-bikers wrestles that a tired smile).
Or you choose the gentler version and come out of the saddle to climb the last few meters on foot.

The Bell of the Fallen was the idea of the Rovereto priest Don Antonio Rossaro to honor the fallen of all wars and to appeal to peace and brotherhood between the peoples of the whole world.
The (first) bell was cast on October 30, 1924 in Trento with the bronze from melted guns donated by the nations involved in the First World War. It was christened "Maria Dolens" on 24 May 1925 in Rovereto, inaugurated on 4 October of the same year and placed on the Malipiero bastion of Rovereto Castle.
The sound of the bell did not correspond to the desired tone and was therefore re-cast 15 years later in Verona.
In 1964 she had to be reshaped due to an irreparable crack. It was much heavier and was - reluctant - relocated from the castle to the current location on the Miravalle.
The giant bell - one of the heaviest in the world - has considerable dimensions: height 3.36 meters / diameter 3.21 meters, weight 22.6 tons, alone the clapper brings 600 kilos on the scales.
It sounds (tuned to B) every day after sunset 100 times.

The bell can be reached via the "Viale delle Bandiere" (Flag Avenue), lined with the flags of eighty nations.
