The castle ruins (formerly the hunting lodge) are located high above Wiesbaden and are protected from decay by a glass roof construction. The hunting lodge was built for Duke Wilhelm von Nassau in 1823 and sold to the city of Wiesbaden in 1913. The British Air Force attacked the hunting lodge in February 1945 and almost completely destroyed it. Subsequently, the hunting lodge fell into disrepair. In 1987, the clean-up and renovation work began. Today the former hunting lodge is used as an event location.

From Kronberg direction Komoot proposes a tour over Niedernhausen to Jagdschloss Platte, which offers beautiful routes with great views. At the hunting lodge there is a small sausage stall and a restaurant with a terrace.
