Tips

  • Arten Gill Viaduct is a defining feature in Dentdale's landscape. With 11 arches towering 35 metres (117 feet) and spanning 659 feet (201 metres), the viaduct carries the Settle-Carlisle Railway over the Arten Gill Beck. The viaduct was constructed from 1871 to 1875 under engineer John Sydney Crossley. You may recognise the viaduct from the Miss Potter movie in which it features.
